Development planning with consideration of climate-induced risks has become an indispensable approach. During last few decades, the city of Gorakhpur has been confronting various hydro-meteorological disasters like flood, heat waves and storms.

In response, the Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG) has worked ob assessing the climate-related vulnerabilities of people at a micro level  with the involvement of a community through a bottom up approach.

“Developing Climate Resilient Ward Plan: A Guideline” reports on ways to incorporate urban vulnerability to climate change in decentralized planning.
